Foods you can eat with braces

Foods to Eat When Wearing Braces

Inevitably, the first thing a person craves when they leave the orthodontist after their first braces treatment is probably exactly what they should not eat!! Whether you enjoy crunchy, chewy or sticky foods, you can always find better food to substitute to get the same texture and help take care of your braces.

Here are some good options for breakfast: yogurt, oatmeal, bananas, toast, smoothies, eggs and even bacon.

Hearty soups or chili are always a good option for lunch, mashed potatoes, cheese, steamed veggies, and salad will give you a nice crunch factor. Potato chips or vegetables with dip will also give you that crunch. Fruit and veggies such as apples and carrots are always great snacks as long as you cut them up.

For dinner, pastas such as spaghetti are always a good bet and any other noodle dishes since they’re nice and soft. Chicken, turkey, with rice, and also seafoods like crab, salmon, and tuna are all delicious options.

Just remember to avoid overly crunchy/hard foods like nuts, very gooey/chewy foods like caramel, and other foods that require being bitten into like corn and crunchy bread. For those with Invisalign, just remember to remove your aligners and you should generally be good to go.

When it comes to a quick, healthy, efficient meal, it’s hard to beat a smoothie. Smoothies are an ideal way to get alot of good nutrients with great flavor and safe for your braces any meal of the day.
