Lingual Braces (Behind the Teeth)

Lingual Braces (Behind the Teeth)

Lingual braces are placed on the back side of your teeth, so they do not show at all. They also do not interfere with speech. Dr. Henry used lingual brackets several years ago, but found that patient discomfort level with having brackets and an arch wire on the inside of their teeth was very high. The brackets also rubbed against the tongue and caused irritation. Each bracket is 100% customized to the shape of your teeth and so time in the chair is lengthened significantly. For these reasons, Dr. Henry no longer uses lingual brackets for his existing patients. There are far better treatment options such as traditional metal braces which are applied around the outside of the teeth, or Invisalign, sometimes referred to as clear braces.
