Why are Braces important?
Crooked teeth are hard to clean and maintain, which may contribute to formation of cavities and gum disease. They can also result in poor chewing and digestion, abnormal tooth wear or unnecessary stress on the jaw joints. When these common teeth problems are left untreated they may become worse over time.
When’s a good age to get orthodontic treatment?
For children The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. At this age, early orthodontic treatment may not be necessary, but vigilant examination can anticipate the most advantageous time to begin treatment.

How Long Does Orthodontic Treatment Take?
Treatment time depends on your specific orthodontic problem. In general, treatment times range from 12-30 months. The “average” time frame a person is in braces is approximately 22 months. Dr. Henry sets a goal for how long he expects treatment will take based on the level of difficulty involved. This time can be affected positively or negatively by patients taking care of their braces and keeping their appointments.
